Read the article below to learn more about Ed’s remarkable history with Golden and the lasting impact he continues to make on our company, our retailer partners, and the customers we serve.

August 2026 Management Spotlight: Ed Pollard

Few people know Golden’s lift chair business quite like Ed Pollard.

Ed’s relationship with Golden dates all the way back to 1985, when Golden was just getting started. At the time, Ed owned and operated Pollard’s Upholstery and became involved with Golden by helping manufacture some of our earliest lift recliners. He officially joined Golden as an employee in 1991, but his contributions to the company span more than four decades.

Over the years, Ed has truly done it all. From running production and upholstering chairs to assembling products, loading trucks, and working alongside the team on new designs, Ed has experienced nearly every aspect of bringing a Golden lift recliner to life.

That hands-on knowledge has become invaluable as Golden has grown.

Today, as Director of Lift Chair Engineering, Ed focuses on research and development, working with teams across the company to design innovative new products, improve existing ones, solve challenges, and identify opportunities that help Golden continue to grow.

Ed has played a significant role in the development of many products and technologies that have helped define Golden’s lift recliner lineup, including our Small to Tall size offerings and chairs featuring our patented MaxiComfort® Positioning and Twilight Technology. His decades of experience give him a unique ability to understand not only how a chair should be designed and built, but how thoughtful engineering can translate into greater comfort, functionality, and quality of life for the person who ultimately uses it.

For our retailer partners, that commitment means having innovative, dependable products that address a wide range of customer needs and provide meaningful solutions on the showroom floor. For our customers and their families, it means having more choices designed around individual comfort, positioning, mobility, and independence.

For Ed, that impact has always been what matters most.

“I’m not motivated by money or recognition. I do what I do to see that it gets done, to be part of the conversations that matter, and to design and build products that truly improve a person’s quality of life.”

That philosophy has remained constant throughout Ed’s more than four decades with Golden. His loyalty, dedication, craftsmanship, and willingness to do whatever is needed are second to none. From helping build some of Golden’s earliest lift chairs to developing the products and technologies that will carry us into the future, Ed’s contributions are an important part of the Golden story.

Thank you, Ed, for 41 years of dedication to Golden and for continuing to help us build products that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
