Golden Technologies Expands Distribution, Manufacturing Operations
Golden Technologies, a manufacturer of power lift and recline chairs, has doubled the capacity of its Pennsylvania Lift Chair distribution center by opening a new warehouse in the Valley Distribution Logistics and Trade Park in Laflin, Pa. The new location provides nearly 100,000 square feet of storage and distribution space and features energy efficient lighting, as well as railroad ramp access in addition to truck loading docks.
The expansion into the new distribution center in Laflin leaves Golden’s previous distribution center, located next to its manufacturing plant and corporate headquarters in Old Forge, vacant. But the building won’t sit empty for long. Golden’s long term plan in addition to finding a larger distribution center was to increase its manufacturing capabilities by adding production lines in its building at 525 Bridge Street in Old Forge. “Now that we’ve emptied out that building, we can begin the process of installing manufacturing lines, creating an additional 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space. This will allow us to maintain and improve our entire quality systems for lift chair manufacturing,” says Golden.
Expanding manufacturing capabilities will allow Golden Technologies to continue is nearly 30-year tradition of lift chairs made in the U.S. Golden was founded in 1985 in a garage in West Pittston, and over the decades has grown into the world’s largest manufacturer of power lift and recline chairs sold throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. In addition, Golden manufactures power wheelchairs and scooters for the disabled, which are distributed through their Mobility Operations facility in Kingston, Pa.
