1985
Golden was founded by Robert Golden and Fred Kiwak in a one-car garage in Pittston, PA.
Building Size: 200 square feet


1986
Exhibited for the first time in NESTI, NYC and Medtrade Atlanta.
A single booth space.
Moved into a “bigger garage” in Harding, PA
Building Size: 1,200 square feet


1988
Opened our first corporate/manufacturing headquarters in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Building Size: 15,000 square feet


1990
Moved corporate/manufacturing headquarters to Exeter, PA.
Building Size: 26,000 square feet
Entered the mobility scooter market as a distributor for Sunrise/ABEC Scooters


1991
Richard Golden, Robert’s son, was named Chief Executive Officer.

1992
Expanded business globally in Canada, Japan, Europe and Australia

1995
Started to develop our own line of mobility scooters… The first being “The Golden Eagle”


1996
Expanded new corporate headquarters and lift chair plant in Old Forge, PA
Building Size: 150,000 square feet


2000
Entered the power wheelchair industry with “The Golden Alante.”
Launched the Companion scooter line.


2002
Acquired Lift Chair Services from Invacare
Expanded the power wheelchair business with our “Golden Compass Series”
Received Small Business of the Year Award from the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce


2003
Awarded the U.S. Veteran’s Administration Contract to supply our Companion scooters to all U.S Veterans throughout the nation.
Have renewed this contract every year since!


2004
Introduced the 700lb chair of the Comforter Series. America’s most flexible sizing line of lift chairs.


2005
Launched the LiteRider scooter line


2006
Patented MaxiComfort Technology – The World’s First Zero Gravity Power Lift Recliner


2008
Expanded Mobility Plant in Kingston, PA.
